The Land of Legends 8K is an off road running event that combines the challenges of cross country running, man made and natural obstacles, water crossings, mud and some unexpected surprises. Open to both men and women over 16yrs of age, the challenge is simple, clear the obstacles and get around the course in as short a time as possible.

All proceeds go to the Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre.

The Land of Legends returns once again to Clogherhead, Co. Louth, in search of 500 Warriors willing to take on the 8k challenge and help raise much needed funds for the Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre.

This challenging event will take place in beautiful setting Clogherhead Village, including the Pier and Headland. Participants can run, jog or walk the 8km route some of which will include sand, hills, muck, water and other obstacles. While on route they will be challenge by natural and manmade obstacles, titles include ‘the swamp’ and the farmers pyramids’ to give just a hint of what you will encounter.  The course design is managed by Eugene Coppinger, President of Irish Master Athletes Association, twice winner of Dublin Masters Cross Country Championship, and involved in the establishment and management of the Dublin City Marathon.

Supporting the event is, Louth County Council Heritage, Clogherhead Development Group, Drogheda Fire Station, Irish Coast Guard, Irish Defence Forces’ 27th Infantry Battalion, Boyne Fishermen Rescue & Recovery Service, Red Cross, Order of Malta, Body Fix Fitness Centre, and many local landowners/framers who have given permission to access their land.
